Since its formation in 1985, the West Virginia Self-Insurers Association has established a mature and responsible reputation in addressing workers' compensation issues.

The Association has consistently partnered with all employers throughout West Virginia, not just self- insurers, in fighting for and maintaining workers' compensation reforms. There is no issue affecting self-insured employers in which the West Virginia Self-Insurers Association is not involved.

Affiliations
The West Virginia Self-Insurers Association is active and recognized on a national level, as well as a state level. Nationally, the Association is a member of the National Council of Self-Insurers and is included on the National Council's Board of Managers.

Within West Virginia, the Association is a member of the Business & Industry Council (BIC) and works cooperatively and effectively with the West Virginia State Chamber of Commerce, West Virginia Manufacturers' Association and the West Virginia Coal Association in working to maintain a fair and cost-effective workers' compensation system.
